COGNITION LAUNCH 8/9/17 launch

The Launch for our Technical Fest ‘Cognition’​ was held on the 8th of September 2017. The event commenced at 4:30 pm in the main quadrangle. The event was hosted by Namita Preman & Sakthivel Yadav. The event started with an interaction between the audience and the hosts. The theme for the technical fest was ‘Arcade Games’. The theme and the overview of the fest was conveyed to the people by the Technical Secretary Anirudh Shankar. A short summary of all the games which were the part of the fest was given to the students present. Mr. Tarun Nihalani and Ms.Shivani Patel were the celebrity guests for the event. The guests arrived at the venue at 4:45 pm. It was followed by a dance performance by our students for the guests. The guests were escorted to the quadrangle for an interaction with the audience. We had a special dance performance by the guests in the quadrangle. After the performance they were escorted back to the seminar hall. After the guests had left the venue, the hosts took over the event summing it up at 5:30 pm.

Seminar on ‘'Legal Formalities and Laws launch

Seminar on ‘'Legal Formalities and Laws related to girls ‘was conducted on 4th October 2017from 3.30p.m. to 4.30p.m.at SIESGST auditorium by Mrs. Smita Jadhav Bhapkar, Senior Police Inspector, NRI police Station, Nerul. She guided the girl students and faculties on laws related to girls and legal formalities in police station. As well as madam had enlightened on different sections of laws related to girls and women . She had shared her experiences to students so that students will get the insight of how to tackle different real life scenarios that came across their daily life. More than 120 girl students along with the faculties had attended the session. They appreciated and gained useful information on the topic.

Seminar on ‘'Menstrual Disorder and Hygiene’ launch

A Seminar on ‘'Menstrual Disorder and Hygiene’ as well as ‘Vending Machine and its advancements was conducted on26th September 2017from 3.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.by Ms. Sreelaxmi Nair, the Zonal Head of ‘Happy Nappy’. Resource person had guided the girl students and faculty on ‘Menstrual disorders and hygiene ‘.In last part of the session Ms.Sreelaxmi also explained various uses and functions of Happy Nappy Vending Machine as well as features of sanitary napkins. It was an interactive session where many questions were asked and doubts were solved. Students freely expressed their views and problems. All students liked the guidelines and suggestions given by the speaker which was attended by around 115 students and faculties.

IETE HYBRID APP DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP launch

A workshop on “Hybrid App Development” was conducted by IETE Students’ Forum of SIES Graduate School of Technology on October 15, 2017. The event received an enthusiastic response and had a total of 54 participants. The speaker for the workshop was Mr. Emmanuel Francis. · He is currently pursuing his last year of engineering in the Information Technology field from SIES Graduate School of Technology. · He is a Mid-level developer with over 3 years of experience specializing in front end development. · He is experienced with all stages of the development cycle for dynamic web projects. · He has an in-depth knowledge in advanced HTML5, CSS, CSS3, SASS, JSON, JavaScript, JQuery, AngularJS, ReactJS. He has a strong background in innate and self-explanatory UX/UI Designs having worked with various companies on their LIVE Projects on Freelance basis. The topics covered in the workshop were: · Creating an ionic project using CLI · Adding different platforms (iOS, Android) to target for compiled applications · Creating interactive interfaces · Using Angular 2 routes in application to create navigation · Testing application in the browser and the emulator or real device Deploying an app to ionic server

Convocation Ceremony for Batch 2016-2017 launch

Convocation Ceremony for Batch 2016-2017 was held on 17th March 2018. Total number of convocations received from the University of Mumbai were 478. Out of these students 354 students confirmed their presence well in advance for the ceremony which includes 84 students from EXTC Department, 82 from CE department, 54 from IT department, 57 from PPT department, 27 from BT department and 50 from Mechanical Engineering Department. The convocation ceremony started with the lighting of lamp followed by the prayer song at 4.15 pm. Dr. V. N. Magare, Pro Vice Chancellor of SNDT Woman's University was the Chief Guest for the ceremony. He guided students and shared his knowledge and experience through very inspirational speech. Convocation distribution started at 5.15 pm after the speech of Dr. V.N. Magare. Honorable Principal Dr. Vikram S. Patil and Dr. V. N. Magare conferred degree certificates to the graduated students. The ceremony ended with vote of thanks by Prof. Shubhangi Kadu, Exam Cell Incharge followed by the national anthem at 6.30pm. SDP seminar on “Art of writing an Application” for FE launch

OBJECTIVE Many organizations survive largely on the strength of their proposal and the success of grant applications so it is essential to write them in a way that grabs attention. A well written application can be a powerful way of making the right first impression and setting you apart from other applicants. SESSION The department of Humanities and applied sciences conducted a student development program(SDP) titled “The Art of Writing applications” for first year Engineering students on 17 march 2018 at 9.30 Am. The main objective of this student development program was to develop students’ writing skills in general and business letter writing in particular. It was conducted by Dr.Ramkishan Bhise and Dr.Vijay Songire. Around forty students actively participated in this seminar. FFEDBACK The event had an overwhelming response from first year students of all branches.

Innovation 2018 launch

The CSI Student Chapter of SIES Graduate School of Technology organised a national level project competition, INNOVATIONS, on 16th March, 2018. The Event was organised in association with Computer Society of India, Andheri, Mumbai. Innovations served as a platform for young minds to take this window of opportunity and bring forward their innovative ideas in the form of projects. This time the CSI council of SIES GST nerul worked hard and strategically thus creating a mark of receiving 100+ abstracts, a count never seen before . The projects were from various fields such as computers, information technology, electronics, Internet of Things, Robotics, Mechanical, etc. Out of the received abstracts,41 projects were selected for the competition after carefully analysing each project based on parameters such as novelty, effectiveness, positive impact on society and scalability. “The efforts that the participants put in was seen through these projects that were displayed by them.” The competition took place in 3 venues as shown below. Venue A – presentations related to computer and IT. Venue B – presentations related to electronics and IOT. Venue C – presentations related to mechanical and robotics. The honoured guests for this event were Mrs. Savita Gawali, Technical Director in NIC, Mumbai under Ministry of Electronics and IT, Govt. of India, as the chief guest for the event. The principal of , Dr. Vikram Patil, welcomed the chief guest and the jury panel. The Valedictory Ceremony was graced by Dr. Vikram Patil, Principal, Dr. Rizwana Shaikh, HOD CE and Suvarna Chaure,SBC CSI . On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a Ms. Prajakta Koli - a youtuber, vlogger ,entertainer and youth inspiration conducted a women empowerment session based on the topic “The journey of my life on 8th March 2018 from 12.30 pm Prajakta recently took a social initiative #iPledgeToBeMe aimed at addressing body shaming. She has over 1 million subscribers on youtube and has been inspiring the youth through her videos. During the seminar, she shared her life story related to her carrier and the challenges she faced to become a successful youtuber and start up such videos. She motivated the girls to be self-confident , bold and passionate. More than 150 girls along with the faculties attended this session. They attendees were and were inspiration through this session and also appreciated the same.

TEDxSIESGST launch

A TEDx event was organized in our college on 27 January 2017. The theme of TEDxSIESGST was ‘Transcending Limits’. The event was conducted in the GST auditorium from 9.30 am to 6 pm. The speakers and their session topics are as follows- Dr Kannan Khatau Chikkal,Gaurang Shetty,Prasad Rahane,Anita Shirodkar,Yash Patnik, Shubhaankar Kamble,Santosh Avvannavar and Amruta Pendse.They spoke on various topics such as how to avoid miscommunication, how to inculcate various hobbies in our lives ,how to be very clear in whatever we make and decide and so on. The event started with the principals speech. The event had a live musical performance. There was a participation of 100 attendees. Each speaker spoke for 20 minutes which was followed by the question answer session. Lunch, breakfast and snacks were served to the attendees and the speakers. TED videos were shown as fillers i e after the speech of three speakers which was followed by a break .After the entire session ended there was also an interaction session between the attendees and the organizing team. The attendees were given sticky notes to give their feedbacks about the entire event and these were stuck onto a board in front of the office. The event went off smoothly and everything happened as per schedule.

DRONE WORKSHOP launch

The student chapter of IEEE SIES GST organized a ‘Hand on workshop for Drone Making’ on 27/8/2016. It was a one day workshop and was delivered by 3 speakers Apurva Godbole, Dinesh Sain, Prasanna Shevare. The workshop was conducted by DRONA AVIATION, which is a SINE IIT Bombay incubated robotics company. The students could inherit complete hand on experience in making the quadcopter as they were guided by the speakers on how to build a quadcopter and also explained them the various mechanics behind the building of a quadcopter. Finally when the construction part was completed they were instructed regarding the operations of quadcopter as well. The session was full of new learning and experiences for students who attended.

Students Development program launch

. Computer Engineering Department conducted a 5 days‘Student Development Programme’from 19/6/2017 – 23/6/2017for FE’s and SE’s. The topic of the programme was “ Basic Linux and Latex”. The speakers for the session were Kalyani Pampattiwar, RoopalMamtora, Namrata Patel, Kranti Bade, UjwalaRavale. The session was extremely informative for 19 students who had attended this development programme. They were introduced to new concepts of Linux and Latex and how these languages hold great power in the Software Industry.

SEMINAR FOR STUDENTS BY INDUSTRY EXPERT launch

. Computer Engineering Department arranged a seminar on 21/04/2017 for SE’s and TE’s. The subject of the seminar was “NoSQL, Big Data and Hadoop”. The seminar was delivered by Mr. Shrikant Gawand from PETAA BYTE Technologies Crowd of 88 students were educated about various NoSQL databases and their requirement in industry and Hadoop. Students gained from this exposure to inherit an entrepreneurial spirit and knowledge about databases technology shift in the Software Industry.

e-Yantra robotics COMPETITION launch

2) The E-yantra team of SIES GST organized an inter college robotics competition on 24th February 2017 at SIES GST premises. The competition was open to all the 4 years of engineering department. The competition was judged by Mr. Sunil Punjabi who guided the participants along each and every step. The competition lasted for 2 hours in which 6 teams successfully created their own versions of an advanced car parking system. The winning teams were awarded certificates and the workshop ended at 7pm.

e-Yantra robotics workshop launch

1) The E-yantra team of SIES GST organized a robotics workshop on 30th July 2017 for all the students of SE and TE. The workshop commenced at 4:30pm and ended at 7pm. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Sunil Punjabi and his team. The 3 hour workshop was attended by more than 40 students from different branches of the engineering department. The workshop focused on introducing the FIREBIRD V amongst students and providing them with a hands on experience. The workshop was a huge success and educated the young minds thoroughly

TECHXTER 7.0 launch

TECHXTER is a National Level Technical Paper Presentation (TPP), open to all the branches of engineering and polytechnic. This event was held by the IETE Students’ Forum (ISF) of SIES Graduate School of Technology, Nerul. This event was specially designed in such a way that it tests all aspects of the students' knowledge on varied topics. It provides the participants an excellent opportunity for demonstrating technical competence and presentation skills. After six consecutive successes, TECHXTER 7.0 was the seventh edition of Techxter. It was held on March 01, 2018 (Thursday). The audience were filled students belonging to all the branches, namely, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Printing and Packaging Technology, Biotechnology, and Electronics and Telecommunication. The participants initially sent an abstract of their technical paper. Based on the review results, the technical program committee shortlisted 30 papers out of 64 consisting of the following branches Information Technology/Computer Engineering Mechanical Engineering/Biotechnology/Printing and Packaging Technology Electrical Engineering Techxter 7.0 started with the Inauguration Ceremony which included a welcome speech followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries on the dais This was followed by the felicitation of the dignitaries, the unveiling of the souvenir, and a speech by the dignitaries on the dais. The Inauguration Ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks and the National Anthem. After the Inauguration Ceremony, the participants and judges proceeded to their respective venues for the paper presentation. After all the participants presented their papers, the judges shared their views on the same. The students shared their experience about Techxter. This was followed by a speech by Mr. Manoj Kulkarni, followed by the prize distribution.The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks.

First- Aid Workshop Report launch

The first aid workshop conducted on 3rd February, 2018 was an initiative taken up by the student council in collaboration with Apollo Hospital, to spread awareness about general measures to be applied during sudden emergencies or discomfort. A few personnel from Apollo Hospital, ER specialist, Dr. Rubin Mendonsa , an assistant nurse and a resident lead the session. They gave a detailed information and illustration on diseases such as fits, paralysis and cardiac arrest along with some other regular illness. A special section was dedicated to the illustration and real life enactment on CPR, which was performed on a manikin [Little Anne]. The students also got a chance to get an experience on this CPR activity. It was a very informative session and helped students understand the need of understanding basic first aid.

BHEJA FRYDAY 16/08/17 launch

Bheja fryday is an event organized by the literary club. This week's BhejaFryday primely focussed on brainstorming sessions to bring out creative ideas from the students and to develop witty convincing strategies. The hour was divided into two sessions, first session was named 'Superbly Short Stories' where the participants were given three thought-provoking words and in the given span of time they had to come up with short stories with the best ones getting featured on LitBuzz. The second half of the session was entertainment oriented where the participants were given hilarious products for which they had to give whimsical taglines and advertise the product to others. Students were engrossed in bringing out their creativity and trying to pen them down to produce a stimulating tiny tale.They came up with heartwarming, funny and diverse tales which had an alluring impact on the listeners. During the advertisement games, the participants as well as the audience thoroughly enjoyed the jocular enactment of the selling of products. At the end of session when asked if they wanted more of educational and humourous sessions the room reverberated with an ear-piercing YES!!!

Bheja Fryday launch

Bheja friday was an event organized by the literary club on the 31st of July in CR 202 The central idea behind this BhejaFryday was to expand on the skills tested during the orientation whilst encouraging the members of the literary club to interact with one another as well as the Heads and Coordinators. A role playing exercise was carried out with the attendees comprising majorly of SE and TE students,divided into 4 groups and given different themes on which they had to device a short humorous sketch. Each coordinator was assigned a group and asked to guide the members to form a script and stage/scene plan. On completion of the activity the general Secretary addressed the gathering Students learnt a valuable lesson on team coordination They overcame their stage fear and showed truly innovative enachtments of the given topics. Everyone in each group shared the stage equally and played a part. The responses given the students were overwhelming

EDC GALA launch

19th January 2018 The first EDC Gala session was held on . Four events were conducted in this session. The events were :Logonix :The objective was to identify logos of companies and to answer a few quiz questions. Whisper Challenge This game was played in a team of two and the challenge was to identify the tag lines of various companies. Pictionary This was a team event, played by a team of 2. The challenge was to identify the word given. Ping Pong game This was a classic fun event, and was organised to act as a filler between the other events. The challenge was to get the ping pong ball in the cup. The attendees enjoyed themselves and we received a positive feedback from them

EDC GROUP DISCUSSIONS launch

The edc student chapter organized group discussions on the topics ELPHINSTONE STAMPEDE: WHO IS TO BLAME?,ARE ENTREPRENEURS BORN OR MADE and CRINGE MUSIC : WHY IS IT TRENDING. The participants shared their independent views on each topic. For elphinstone stampede,the entire incident was explained. Some highlighted the cause and some put forward the possible solutions to the problem. It was an informative discussion which highlighted an important issue which needs to be resolved.The participants had different views on the topic entrepreneurs born or made. Some were of the view that leaders are born whereas some held the view that leaders are made. They supported their arguments with examples.It was thus a fruitful discussion and concluded with the view that entrepreneurship depends on the talent, skills and hard work and so these qualities can be developed over time.The participants put forward their individual views on the subject. A few examples were taken up and the reasons for the trend were discussed. Some highlighted why such music is developed and some spoke on why it is liked by listeners. It was a healthy discussion and the participants enjoyed it.

EDC PANEL DISCUSSION launch

15th September, 2017 A Panel Discussion was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell during the annual technical fest ‘Cognition 2017’ on 16th September 2017. The topic for the panel discussion was “Job or Higher Studies or Entrepreneurship” and the panellists were- Abhishek Kulkarni(senior Technical Team Lead at Unotech Software and a Research and Development team member.),Gaurang Shetty(Chief Innovation Catalyst/ CEO​ at Research Innovation Incubation Design Labs (riidl),Somaiya Vidyavihar and he is also the Mumbai Head of Facebook Developer Circles.), Harpreet Singh(CEO and founder of Ahy Consulting. Ahy ), Suhani Mohan(co-founder and CEO of Saral Designs),Moderator : Saurabh Prabhu(Research Analyst at CRISIL Limited) The panel included people who had taken up different routes in their career and were happy to share their experiences. Women Entrepreneurship was also discussed as we had a woman entrepreneur, Suhani Mohan on the panel. Entrepreneurship The speakers shared their views on when one should take up entrepreneurship and can it be done individually or in a team. The ‘funding’ aspect and the risks involved in entrepreneurship were discussed. The speakers also highlighted on the present scenario for entrepreneurship in India and abroad.Higher Studies The need, advantages and the future aspects of taking up higher education and also how can it be helpful in entrepreneurship was taken up. Then, the discussion moved on to whether higher studies should be pursued in India or Abroad and can one stay connected with entrepreneurship while pursuing higher studies was considered. Job after graduation The advantages of taking up a Job and how the experience gained can help in the future were discussed followed by the current employment scenario in India and abroad. Women in Entrepreneurship Suhani Mohan shared with the audience her story of starting up ‘Saral Designs’. She shared how has her journey been and the challenges she had faced during her journey. It was followed by discussion on why there are less number of women in entrepreneurship and the advantaged and limitations for women pursuing entrepreneurship in India and abroad .The other panellists too shared their views on the subject. The discussion was followed by a Q&A session with the audience. Conclusion It was concluded that one can stay connected and pursue entrepreneurship by taking up any field, and the choice of the field depends on individual priorities.

COGNITION’17 15th,16th Sept’17 launch

Cognition a national level technical festival was organized on 15-16th september .it is an ideal platform for students to sharpen their technical skills in a fun filled way.this year the theme was arcade focussing on the games that were played during 1970’s. The fest began with the on 15th ie engineers day with the inaugration ceremony.The director general of police SHRI VV LAKSHMINARAYAN was invited as the chief guest for this occation.his speech focussed on passion in work,decipline and being ethical.the prin Students were felicitated for their achievements for completing various projects,sports and academics along with the speeches given by the dignitaries .After the inauguration ceremony contraption took place which marked the start of all events. GST makers mela was a specially arranged project exhibition for the students of sies gst. There were many fun filled events that were made by the techteam such as bomberman,tanks ddr,lasertag,webgames,retro archade,techrace and lan gaming(games like NFS,FIFA and DOTA2).There were four events that were organized by the cultural team such as Pacman,Tactical X/O,JAM(just a minute consisting of four sub events such as buzz,snakes and ladders,tap the baloon and dizzy route).The entrepreneurship development cell of our college conducted some events such as ipl auction.mergers and acquizition,KBC to help the participants develop their enterpreneurship development skills.Dream Jb helped the students understand the entire process of getting a job starting from aptitude tests till interviews.There were events.To tickle the students grey cells there was a plethora of quizes-there were four national level quiz competitions such as matrix(tested students knowledge on physics ,chemistry and maths was organized basically for the first years),mindspark , techtroopers(a quiz consisting of puzzles) to test the technical skills of the students and also inquizitive.For orators and literature enthusiasts carefully orchested events such as mock parliament,spell bee,being unscripted,psychand The Literati was organized. Ther were events to test the students logical understanding through the events such as web-master and coding competition.there were national events such as squabble and circuit maniacs which were made for debating and testing a students ability of making circuits by just giving them simple problem statements.Also ,the SAE students chapter of our college organized events for the first time the events were Auto Quiz and Design Wars.Truely this years cognition cognition taught us that technology can be fun and it gave us a rolercoaster ride through a variety of events .There were a variety of sports events such as radium cricket,lagori,tug of war, darts etc

EDC ORIENTATION 16/08/17 launch

The orientation of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell for the year 2017-18 was held on 16th of August, 2017. The occasion was graced by Mr. Prasad Menon, the CEO of Centre for Incubation and Business Acceleration (CIBA), Mumbai, and Mr. Devesh Chawla, the founder and CEO of Chatur Ideas. Mr. Prasad Menon discussed on how incubation centres can help various businesses and Mr. Dewesh Chawla threw some light on the various aspects of entrepreneurship among other topics. Different entrepreneurial ideas and challenges were discussed. The chief guests also enlightened the students on how to set up their own ventures. NSS TREE PLANTATION launch

The NSS volunteers of SIES GST took part in a tree plantation drive on 15th July 2017 at Shantivan ashram, Panvel. The Principal, faculty members and students reached the venue by 10am. The heavy rains didn’t let the enthusiasm die in anybody. The ashram had a nursery which sold varieties of saplings and they were generous enough to donate 52 saplings for us to plant in the locality. The saplings were then carried by every volunteer to a nearby location overlooking a river. The people from the ashram and the localities helped them dig the holes and guided them to plant the saplings in the pouring rain. The principal and the faculty members were very keen to help the volunteers themselves. Pictures were clicked with the planted saplings. The day ended with everyone drying themselves in the shed. It was a really memorable experience for everybody and gave each one a sense of achievement for having positively contributed to the environment.

YOGA DAY launch

The NSS volunteers conducted a two day yoga workshop on 20/06/2017 and 21/06/1017 celebrating International Yoga Day Mr. Aashim Samarth, Mrs. Deepika Samarth from the Vyana yoga centre and Mrs. Rinki Bhosale were the instructors who guided the attendees of the programme .Faculty members, Nss volunteers and other college students interested in learning more about Yoga were a part of the programme. The session started at 9am with a short meditation course . Power yoga was taught , and different Asanas were demonstrated which helped everyone relax the spinal cord, knees ,head ,sinus and other body parts. The instructors spread calming thoughts through their speeches. The attendees were taught how to develop inner peace by increasing ones concentration. The programme ended with a power nap session. The instructors conversed with everyone and listened to the audience's problems and recommended proper treatment for the same. This yoga workshop helped many of the students to de-stress from their hectic schedules and it taught them the basics of yoga. A few volunteers also participated in the Yoga Day workshop conducted by the Mumbai university

TEACHERS DAY launch

Teachers day was celebrated on 6th of september 2017 at 4pm in the GST Auditorium.A small gathering was arranged for all the teachers of our college.The program began with a musical performance by the music club after which there was a fun session consisting of games.The session was followed by a dance performance by moksh.Later a video was shown by the media team.Also on the same day there was a felicitation ceremony for subject toppers in each branch.

NSS SE ORIENTATION launch

The NSS orientation programme for the Second Year students was conducted on 28th July2017. It was presided over by The Principal-Dr. Vikaram Patil, The NSS Program Officer of SIES GST – Prof. Mahesh Biradar and Prof. Ram Bhise. The third year NSS volunteers attended the programme as well. The event started with an introductory video made by the third year volunteers which showcased the various activities conducted by the previous NSS batches over the years The Principal was invited to address the crowd. The importance of NSS as an organization was explained and its motto, ‘Not me, but you’ was induced into the minds of the new batch. The programme ended with the NSS prayer song and lastly the National Anthem being sung. The event lasted for an hour and laid a foundation stone for the upcoming year of the NSS family at SIES GST

Literary Club Orientation launch

The orientation event was conducted with an aim of introducing attendees to the Literary club ,its activities and initiatives played throughout the year Students were informed of the editorial role played by the Literary Club in Samanvay , The GST Gazette,events organized by the Literary Club in college festivals,various workshops,authors meets and various seminars organized by the club till date This introduction was followed by a few fun educational games designed to test players on the spot creativity in story building and ability to work as a team The event was a Grand Success Students enjoyed playing the games that were organized and signed up to be a part of the literary club in huge numbers Students exhibited great story building skills and creativity They took advantage of the games to showcase their talents Overall ,there was a positive feedback with respect to the activities to take place this semester

COMPOST PIT SEMINAR launch

The NSS unit of SIES GST conducted a seminar related to COMPOST generation and maintenance on 10th August 2017. The chief guest were Ashwini Deshpande who is practicing architecture in Navi Mumbai and Mangala Ghorpade who is a microbiologist & biochemist and now working in Nuclear medicine department at KEM Hospital Parel. Both stated their keen interest and passion towards social and community work`` The Guests came up with a project and a related presentation about waste disposal and compost production ways were explained. 13 different NSS units of various colleges each 5 students attended the seminar. Total of 65 students were there. Pamphlets about the project was distributed to create further awareness by the students who attended the seminar in their own respective colleges. The Seminar lasted for two hours. Useful Knowledge regarding compost pits was imparted to everyone present and an urge to create, maintain and spread awareness about the same was induced.

Bootstrap is an open-source front end framework for web designing The workshop was successfully conducted by Mr. Stephen and Mr. Niraj of Suven Consultants. STUDENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ON BASIC LINUX launch

Computer department of our college announced a student development program from 19th to 23rd June for the first year student entering into Sem 3 The workshop helped students learn how to develop an application by using an open source Linux platform which would help them in their higher semesters. It will also provide a base for future Linux certification courses. The entire workshop was conducted by the computer faculty Students were taught various topics covering the basic commands that are used in linu,understanding various files and folders ,understanding users and permissions and how to open a command shell terminal on the first day On the second day students were taught advanced commands in linux and basic knowledge of shell scripting Students were given a basic knowledge of shell scripting followed by open office suite and a guide to latex On the last day students were made to make a presentations and reports using latex By the end of the course students got a sound knowledge of how to install linux, basic commands to handle open source,advanced commands related to network,shell scripting open office and latex

Swachha Bharat Abhiyan launch

On 5th August 2017,the NSS unit of SIES Graduate School of Technology conducted a cleanliness drive to mark the occasion of SwachhBharat Abhiyanin the college campus as well as in the nearby village area. The day began with all the NSS volunteers along with faculty members assembling in the college Quadrangle . There everyone stood and took an oath to keep their surroundings clean and to spread awareness regarding the same. After taking the oath all the volunteers were majorly divided into two groups where the first one would have the responsibility to clean the campus whereas the second one was supposed to spread awareness about cleanliness in the nearby Sheravne village. The first group at the first went on a rally around the campus stating ‘Swachrahe campus aurdeshhumara’. After this the same group was divided into smaller groups and were given tasks like to check and clean areas of the campus, to check whether dustbins are there in each classroom, to relocate goods from one area to the other in campus. Meanwhile the second group went outside the campus towards Shiravne village on a rally. In the village they went to a local government school where the volunteers met the students. They informed the young students about importance of hygiene & cleanliness and the ways to keep the surrounding areas clean. Thus the NSS volunteers made an effort to keep the country clean by performing and spreading awareness about the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Independence Day launch

This year’s Independence day celebration saw Radm. Balachandran as the chief guest. At 8.30 am the flag hoisting took place which was headed by our Principal and chief guest, followed by inspirational speeches by the Principal . Later everyone assembled in the GST Auditorium. The music club performed patriotic songs along with certain folk songs followed by the NSS Skit. NSS unit of the college gave an enthralling performance on the theme- Shouldnt we change? Focussing on topics relating to depression,various restrictions imposed on girls when they menstruate and transgenders. The Skit was followed by a speech given by Siddharth Poduval followed by a music performance by Monty Our college Annual magazine Samanvay was launched on the same day After the function an interactive session was held between our chief guest and the NSS volunteers followed by a concluding speech .
